No more monkey business!
Dozens of Sykes’ monkeys from the nearby Karura Forest roam through the gardens and common areas of the #UnitedNations complex in #Nairobi(pictured top), foraging for food and raising fears of potential safety and health threats.
New monkey-proof bins (pictured bottom) are therefore being installed complex-wide. With a rotating lid to stop #monkeys from removing the trash inside, the bins’ heavy weight ensures that the monkeys don’t topple them over. The bins are manufactured locally and are made from 100 percent recycled wood.
Launched to mark the International Day for Biological Diversity, the plan aims to promote safety and harmony between the #UN staff and their primate pals.
